Lithium Battery Testing
Lithium batteries and equipment containing them are classed as Dangerous Goods for transportation by land, sea, or air. Every battery type is required to be certified according to a prescribed series of safety tests before it can be accepted for transportation.
The current test methodology is detailed in the UN Manual of Tests and Criteria, Revision 7, Section 38.3
The tests required for primary batteries (lithium metal batteries) are as follows:
- Test T1 Altitude Simulation
- Test T2 Thermal Test
- Test T3 Vibration
- Test T4 Shock
- Test T5 Short Circuit
Sartech has in-house facilities to carry out these tests on its own batteries, and can provide a commercial testing service at very competitive rates, and with rapid turnround.
